I know it's a decision that I'll have to make myself, but I just wanted some opinions.
I'm from the U.S. and I'm applying to UCT which is in Cape Town, South Africa. I've done a whole bunch of research on it …ed yet. Since it's such a big decision I just want to know from anyone who has been to Cape Town or attended/ is attending UCT is it worth it? Is it safe? Good education? Is the scenery as beautiful as it is in pictures?
UCT is my alma mater, the tuition is much more expensive for foreigners, it's so cheap in US currency because our government subsidises the cost of public university for South Africans, this does not apply to foreigners. …rners is only a few thousand rand higher per annum than for local pupils. A lot of their courses are now even offered in solely English versus Afrikaans.
Good luck! South Africa is truly a unique experience.

First of all, how hard is to move somewhere for a year?
I realize we would need to find an apartment before we move,
what about jobs, do we find those before we move there too?
We will be high school gr … safer and by the ocean..
But somewhere where we would be able to get jobs.
We aren't interested in Cape Town because it is HUGE.
Any advice or answers would be appreciated.
Thx for your time..
There is a lot of opportunities in Johannesburg, bur unfortunately no beach.
And one other thing, you need certain qualifications for a good paying job!

In my opinion SA is one of thee most beautiful countries in the world but it may loose its beauty because of the direction the country is heading in. The crime rate is ridiculously high. The Aids epidemic is out of contr …ation from Grade 0 - University while the minority's have to pay. SA is becoming a waste, its sad that a beautiful, rich & clean country has turned into a total mess.
You may ask how do i know , well I live in SA.
Funny that you have brought these issues up at a time when I was thinking of taking my next vacation there. I actually have been chatting with a lady from the Cape Town area and have become somewhat enchanted, however, w …online, I don't feel like going there and spending money to promote what I feel is a loss to natural selection through man's law...if you know what I mean. It is sad to hear and see it happening in my own country....USA.
